About: Couple Therapy
Couple therapy is a transformative process that fosters understanding, communication, and intimacy between partners. I will provide you a safe and supportive environment, where you feel able to express your thoughts and feelings, as well as listening to each other openly.
One of the benefits of couple therapy is the opportunity to address underlying issues that may be disrupting the relationship and gaining insight into each other’s perspectives and experiences.
Couple therapy can also help to navigate significant life changes or stressors such as having children, dealing with loss or navigating mental health difficulties. These transitions or stressors can add strain on a relationship, and therapy can provides a framework for couples to adapt and thrive during these times.
We will first meet together to discuss what brings you to therapy and the history of you as a couple. If after this initial meeting we agree to continue working together, I will meet with each partner individually (ideally in the same week) to get to know you as individuals and discuss any topic that might feel tricky to discuss as a couple at this early stage (please note that I hold a strict ‘no secret’ policy). We will then meet all together again - in this session I will share what I have learned about you and some thoughts about our work moving forwards. We will also set specific goals for our work and you will decide how many sessions you wish to dedicate to the goals identified.
